Bermudian reinsurer Alterra is the latest international firm to be given regulatory approval to establish a local company in Brazil.
The company has announced that Brazilian insurance and reinsurance regulator the Superintendencia de Seguros Privados (Susep), has given final approval for Alterra Resseguradora do Brasil (Alterra Re Brasil).
Alterra said the company will be located in Rio de Janeiro and is expected to offer a wide range of reinsurance products to Brazilian insurance companies with immediate effect.
