Allianz lead hull insurer in Lufthansa crash

Allianz is the lead hull insurer for the Deutsche Lufthansa AG cargo plane that crash-landed and caught fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today (27 July).

Lufthansa said the pilot of Flight LH8460 reported a fire in the cargo bay of the Boeing-McDonnell Douglas MD-11 on the approach to Riyadh's King Khaled International Airport

The German insurer Allianz confirmed to The Insurance Insider that it is the lead for the freighter, which has an estimated hull value of EUR25mn.
