Aon Benfield mothballs cat fund to focus on Juniperus

Aon Benfield has effectively mothballed its new investment management firm Global Insurance Strategies LLC (GIS), as it channels its energies into Juniperus Capital Limited - the Benfield-backed cat fund manager launched last year.

According to sources, the reinsurance broking giant has suspended fundraising efforts on the initiative and parted company with Brett Houghton - the former managing director of Aon Benfield's investment banking group - who headed GIS strategy.
