Fall in ILS volumes sparks price declines

Cat bond issuance volumes continued to decline in 2016, which led to bargains for some sponsors as the year progressed

Meanwhile, investors displayed a readiness to take on riskier deals and new perils appeared on the market.

The volume of new cat bonds issued last year reached $6.8bn, down from $7.5bn in 2015 and $8.9bn in 2014, according to data compiled by sister publication Trading Risk.
