Historically, October is the month that exhibits the highest levels of volatility in global stock markets.
And, with some of the worst monthly falls of all time having occurred during its 31 days, it is indeed gratifying to see the recent stock market debuts of Germany's Talanx and the UK's Direct Line perform so creditably.
Neither float has set the investment banking world on fire, but
both have been solid qualified successes for their owners, and
initial investors.
