The chair of the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary
Affairs Committee (Econ), Sharon Bowles, has accused certain
leading German MEPs of attempting to "jettison the whole of
Solvency II".
Renowned both for being outspoken and as one of Europe's most
influential policymakers, Bowles said a group of prominent Germans
in the European Parliament had publicly stated that the new regime
would never happen - an agenda that could slow down negotiations
even further.
