The European Commission abandoned a two-year antitrust
investigation into the International Group of (IG) protection and
indemnity (P&I) companies without warning earlier this month,
prompting speculation that an informal agreement was made with the
IG behind closed doors.
The inquiry targeted the International Group Agreement (IGA), which
contains provisions governing how the group's 13 P&I clubs
