The eagerly awaited run-off auction of Zurich Insurance
Company's UK run-off subsidiary Eagle Star has finally begun.
According to well-placed sources, around a dozen of the run-off
sector's heavyweight buyers have been approached with an
initial tender document for the KPMG-run auction.
Possible bidders are thought to include Bermudian duo Enstar and Catalina. The pair have consistently demonstrated that they have the firepower and appetite for chunk deal-making in the legacy acquisition market (see table).
Yet there is some speculation...
