Three years after its bailout by the US government, American
International Group (AIG) is suing the federal government for
$30.2mn over its alleged overpayment of taxes.
AIG filed a lawsuit in the US Court of Federal Claims in
Washington, alleging that it overpaid taxes from 1997 to 1999 and
that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had not yet addressed a
refund request from 2007.
