Chartis downgraded by S&P
American International Group (AIG)'s P&C arm Chartis Group
has lost its Standard & Poor's (S&P) A+ rating after
being downgraded on deteriorating operating performance.
The ratings agency said it had lowered the counterparty credit and
financial strength ratings to A because Chartis' operating
performance has been lower than expected and will likely remain so.
S&P said it now only views Chartis as "strategically
important" to parent AIG "rather than core as defined
