The soft market enveloping the global reinsurance industry is
placing increased pressure on underwriters to loosen terms and
conditions of cover.
Although rate declines are predicted to ease somewhat at 1 January
renewals, there is a growing sentiment - most recently expressed at
the PCI annual convention in Colorado Springs last week - that
reinsurance brokers are pushing to broaden coverage for their
clients.
That broadening includes further evidence of attempts to convert
annual renewals into multi-year reinsurance contracts.
